History of Tolsia High School

Located at #1 Rebel Drive, Fort Gay, WV, Tolsia High School is the home of the Rebels!

On March 19, 1985, a 14.1 million dollar bond levy was made available for the consolidation of Crum High School and Fort Gay High School. This consolidation took many hours of careful planning from both communities in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.  All this planning and combined effort paid off, because on January 18, 1988, students ceased being Crum Mountaineers and Fort Gay Vikings and became Tolsia Rebels.

This ultra modern facility is located on U.S. 52 approximately 12 miles south of Fort Gay and 12 miles north of Crum.  Tolsia houses approximately 430 students grades 9-12 with three administrators and 70 faculty and staff members.

Tolsia has received many acknowledgements and awards in its existence.  Tolsia has seen a rise in Achievement Test scores and attendance, was selected as the 298th Point of Light by President George Bush, visited the White House, won the AA State Basketball Competition twice, and the AA State Cheerleading Competition has been held by Tolsia 11 of the last 14 years!  Tolsia has also brought home the Sportsmanship Award and participated for four years in the State Quarter-finals in AA Football.  Tolsia has also expanded its curriculum by adding Schools-to-Work, Job Shadowing, and Advisor/Advisee Programs.

Tolsia now hosts state-of-art technology throughout the building.  Our Media Center is now a hub for student technological research.  All students and teachers enjoy access to the internet through the computer lab located in the Media Center and our Science/ Math Lab, located in our Science and Math Department.

The future for Tolsia looks promising. Students have proven to themselves that they have the potential to be number one.  With a lot of hard work and support from their friends, family, faculty, and surrounding communities, Tolsia has come far since changing colors.
